In addition to events in and around the Brooklyn Art Library, The Sketchbook Project takes its collection on the road throughout the year to share personal sketchbooks with communities all over. Additionally on May 30, 2015 from 12:00-6:00pm at the New Museum, the Sketchbook Project event will be coming to 235 Bowery St. NYC.

The Sketchbook Project is an independent Brooklyn-based company that organizes global, collaborative art projects for everyone who is passionate about the arts. It is a crowd-sourced library that features 33,809 artists’ books contributed by creative people from 135+ countries. The Brooklyn Art Library is their storefront exhibition space in the heart of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY where The Sketchbook Project collection is presented to the public.

The project was born in 2006 in Atlanta, GA and re-located to New York City in 2009. Since that time, this small organization has grown into a worldwide community of more than 70,000 artists. By focusing on the intersection of hands-on art making and new technology, The Sketchbook Project fosters and grows community-supported art projects that captivate the power of the virtual world to share passionate inspiration to anyone who is interested.
