The newest addition to the wide array of reasons to celebrate revitalized new jewel of the business district, The Sanctuary Hotel, Tender offers high-end Modern American cuisine, a robust Sushi Menu and an unparalleled cutting-edge lounge atmosphere that sets it apart from virtually any other dining experience in the district.

Conceived by celebrated hoteliers Hank and Brandon Freid, Tender lends a new layer of luxury to Sanctuary’s opulent offerings. Already boasting the happening Haven Rooftop, which debuted to rave reviews over the winter, Tender is a slightly moodier and more discreet downstairs-destination off the already attractive lobby.

The instantly appealing atmosphere is the handiwork of acclaimed designer Josh Held, whose work has brought new life to several landmarks including The Downtown W Hotel, The Dream Hotel and Marquee.

Guests are greeted by a dazzling (and often dancing) array of beautiful hostesses who lead you past a beautifully polished brass bar that anchors the lounge with walnut beaded chandeliers and wood panels, while vintage Parisian table lamps sit atop the silver veined stone top.

The floor is a balance between elegantly patterned encaustic tile and wood planks. And diners can enjoy their meals at beautiful banquettes with bright turquoise tufted leather that line both sides of the lounge and sit against hand-applied murals over original brick walls.  Tables with large wing chairs with turquoise pony hides bring even more beauty to the banquettes, while intricately patterned leather seats surround the smaller but just as inviting, brass riveted cocktail tables.

The Modern American fare features the delectable recipes of Dale Schnell who’s mouth watering magic highlighted the menus of such popular and highly-regarded dining destinations at The Setai Fifth Avenue, Picholine (NYC), KTCHN at THE OUT NYC and the world’s only 7-star hotel The Burj al Arab in Dubai.

The house specials include such succulent creations as Organic Roast Chicken, Atlantic Salmon and an unbelievably unique and intoxicating Asparagus Risotto with Baby Scallops. We ordered an amazingly tender and tasteful Filet Mignon which melted in the mouth and Macaroni and Cheese dish that was nearly too delicious to adequately describe in words. The dessert was a magical Molten Sticky Toffee Cupcake with a cream cheese frosting, and amaretto crunch gelato filling that was singularly delectable.

Tender also offers a sterling sampling of sushi offerings including a 10-piece Omakase and six non-traditional sushi rolls from Sushi Chef Edwin Purnomo whose pedigree includes a five-year stint at the celebrate Sushi of Gari.

Tender is located at The Sanctuary Hotel at 130 West 47th Street and welcomes guests seven nights a week from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m. with the lounge remaining open until 2 a.m.
