Calling all art aficionados; the annual Select Art Fair is coming to Chelsea on May 13-17th, located at the Center 548 (formerly known as the Dia Building) on West 22nd Street between 10th and 11th Ave. This year, Select is dedicating an entire floor to Brooklyn-based galleries. The VIP preview will last from 6-10 p.m. beginning on Wednesday.
This year’s Select-Fair is a thriving business that specializes in shining a light on emerging and mid-career artists from international galleries. In two days, New York City will witness Selects’ exhibition focusing on mainly upcoming and local artists, as well as print publishers. This will include talks and book signings, performance art, and The Rooftop, which is a sensory installation and living sculpture, as well as a presentation of special projects that have been prepared.
This yearly event is curated by founder of Select, Brian Whitely. Select produces large-scale art fairs and events in both New York City and Miami. Select targets the two biggest art events in the United States: Art Basel Miami and Frieze Week New York City.
