Recent college grads from New York universities have a big reason to celebrate. New York State’s Get On Your Feet Program is now available for graduates who finished school after December of 2014 and are making less that 50,000 per year. It will provide up to 24 months of federal student loan debt relief so that graduates don’t have to struggle financially under the weight of student debts and can be on their way to a comfortable financial future.

Governor Cuomo announced that the program will be accepting applicants on December 31st 2015. The governor spoke about the program on the New York State website.

“Ensuring students are able pay for college and not saddled with debt is critical for both their individual success and the continued economic growth of New York State,” he stated, “With this program, we are telling recent graduates: if you invest in New York’s future, we will invest in yours.”

There are several other qualifications that individuals must meet in order to apply for the debt relief. Visit New York State’s website to check your eligibility and apply.
