The Slipper Room in Orchard Street will host the album release party of composer and singer Kristin Hoffman’s latest EP, The Human Compass: New Directions tonight at 7. The event will feature a live performance by Hoffman, as well as a screening of the album’s first music video, “Let Go.” The show will include belly dancers and a DJ set by industrial sound weaver Troy Stallman.
Kristin Hoffman finds inspiration from the works of Sigur Ros, Annie Lenox, and Bach in order to produce her own powerful, expressive and poised pieces that penetrate the intellectual and spiritual sides of art.
In this new EP, Hoffman collaborates with Stallman to create electronic beats and reverberating effects that blend soothingly to the mysterious allure and suspenseful emotion of three of her previous album tracks.

Aside from securing song placements in TV show like Dawson’s Creek and Palmetto Pointe, Hoffman has been on the same stage with The Wallflowers, Feist, Brandi Carlile and many other luminaries of music. One of Hoffman’s passions involves exploring the healing powers of music and creating tunes that allow listeners to tap into their higher potentials.
Hoffman has also dedicated her time into producing and composing music for more world-related issues. The singer has contributed 170 songs to the non-profit organization Songs of Love, for health-challenged children. As a spokesperson for the non-profit, she’s also performed her piece, Song for the Ocean, purposely made to raise environmental awareness in conventions around the globe.
