Recently I was contacted by InsideTracker to test their program designed to improve health by increasing energy, improving sleep, reducing pain and injury, optimizing mood, raising metabolism, and enhancing overall performance. A team of scientists, exercise physiologists, nutritionists, and physicians have created five different plans ranging from $50 to $500.
InsideTracker provided me with their top tier Ultimate plan which is quite extensive. A technician was sent to my home to obtain blood samples, which involved the usual 12 hours of fasting. The entire process was extremely efficient, and within five days I received an email with a link to my results.
The link contained data and my profile which was created by me prior to the blood test. Extensive questions were required but all were necessary to create an “individualized plan” that is unique to my lifestyle, exercise, and nutrition. It is based on a sophisticated algorithm created by this amazing team.
This program enhances wellness and performance by utilizing individualized data which is specific to the user. It is this philosophy that separates InsideTracker from your basic family physician blood work panel.
The InsideTracker results website is encyclopedic. Over 25 biomarkers ranging from cortisol to hemoglobin are further broken down into categories such a bone and muscle health. Your results can be viewed along with the values for each marker and whether you are in, above, or below your “optimized zone.” Additional information is also available and much too vast to describe. For that reason, I have provided an example of such from my initial test.
Needless to say, I was shocked by my results. I was in the optimized zone in many areas but I also realized I need much improvement in other fields. I now have a much more extensive road map of recommendations to assist me in obtaining the optimized zone range of each biomarker. I have begun implementing the numerous suggestions offered by InsideTracker and I have plans to perform yet another blood test in the months ahead. The program offers contacts to their staff should you have any questions or concerns.
Overall, I was most impressed by this service. I felt that they provided me with not only accurate data but simplistic recommendations that allow me to focus on a specific avenue for improvement. Gil Blander PhD, initial founder and chief science officer of InsideTracker explained it best in a recent conference. Like the automobiles of the present day which utilize computer technology to monitor and maintain performance, this same cutting edge applied science is now available for the human body. You can’t manage what you can’t measure.
