From consumption to beauty, olive oil has made it’s mark in the world of skin and hair care for it’s restorative properties, externally and internally.

Yesterday, Thursday, June 4th, Klorane introduced its Anti-Aging Hair campaign and launched their upcoming releases to an audience of beauty professionals at a Greek inspired luncheon. Collaborating with O&Co., Klorane’s products emphasized the importance of the olive for hair restoration. Through thickness and vitality the products celebrate “the power of the olive.”

Laure Calvel, Klorane’s Global Marketing Director, introduced the soon to be released products. The shampoo and leave-in concentrate, both contain essential olive extract, imperative for rewinding the damages of time. Calvel explained that, “hair looses it’s vitality by the age of 35 and decreases so on.” It becomes less supple, the hair begins to lose it’s elasticity, thickness, there’s a reduction in follicle activity, and fiber’s lose their substance.

The key to both products is the extract of the Koroneiki olive. The extract is a water based active ingredient, accompanied by nine essential substances, from polyphenols and antioxidants for protection, vitamins B5, B8 for vitality, and sugars to promote thickness. Pharmacological tests have proven that the extract slows the stiffening of collagen and protects enzymes that alter scalp cells, meaning protection starts at the root. The formula’s are 100% vegan, as well as silicone and paraben free.

Also in attendance was Rose Malindretos, O&Co.’s Director, explaining the cruciality of fresh olives in the process of making olive oil. “From the moment the olive is picked off the tree to consuming it, the process is essential to the quality of the oil,” said Malindretos. Informing the audience of the health properties of olive oil, Malindretos recommended substituting it for butter and salad dressings. Jokingly stating, “I have three main condiments for every single meal: salt, pepper, and olive oil.”

Attendee’s were given the chance to test out oil’s from Provence, Andalusia, and Sicily to enjoy the palatable variations of genuine olive oil around the globe.

The event, held at Carnegie Hall, was amassed with olives and tree leaves scattered on each table with a mini olive tree at the center. Greek authenticity was taken a step further, with a live bouzouki instrumentalist playing throughout the events entirety.

The realm of anti aging products are prominent in skin care, though, it’s the scalp and hair that we tend to neglect. Our hair the upmost form of self expression and symbolic of a good beauty regimen. While wear and tear inevitably ensue from artificial entities, the passage of time also takes a toll on your hair. Revive your fountain of youth this upcoming October when Klorane releases it’s anti aging hair care line and discover the power of the olive.
