Here are some exciting events and sites to check out in downtown New York this week, courtesy of Gogobot. Visit the website or download the app for more GoGo This Week upcoming events.

1. Cider Week

Check site for complete list of locations

Fri, Nov 6th-Sun, Nov 15th

With plenty of free-flowing cider tastings, Cider Week is a great opportunity to drop in on dozens of free cider tasting events across the boroughs. While you are at it, check out the Lower East Cider Festival, a three-block harvest party with cider, dancing and music. Hard core cider fans can throw back over 40 cider tasting at the Astor Center during Applepalooza, $55. Check site for complete list of FREE and paid events.

2. Trufflepalooza

Locanda Verde (Tribeca)

Daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner

Now through December 15th, the urban Italian Locanda Verde will be serving daily specials topped off with a generous shavings of truffles. The special change daily but you can catch these truffled dishes on a pretty regular basis:  Steak Tartara Piemontese, wagyu beef with hazelnuts and truffles, polenta with pork sausage, or potato gnocchi with leeks and parmesan.

3. Cozy Fireplaces

The Fillmore Room (Chelsea)

Daily for lunch and dinner

As temperatures slowly drop and rooftop bars lose their appeal, it’s time to head to The Fillmore Room (it replaced the iconic Moran’s this spring) where you won’t have to battle for a seat by the fire as the new owners have kept all 5 cooper-hooded fireplaces. Cozy up with a cocktail or a plate of the hearty, seasonal American fare.

4. Veggie Beef

Nomad Bar (Flatiron)

Nightly

Last week the World Health Organization released a report that drew a direct link between processed and red meat and cancer. Good thing the veggie burger has seen a rebirth in top New York restaurants. We say go all fancy and grab the veggie patty added this summer at NoMad Bar. A mix of quinoa, lentils, chickpea, corn, mushroom and spices, the patty is fried to perfection and topped with pepper jack cheese, piquillo aioli, radishes and watercress. You can’t beef with this burger!

5. A New Joe on the Block

Coffee Project (East Village)

Daily

Lattes served in a single cup are out! The new trend is the deconstructed latte served in three parts: a flute of espresso, then frothy milk and finally a goblet of latte. Some say they like the layering of the different yet familiar flavors, but we like that it’s served in three different cocktail glasses for a chance to slow down and really enjoy our coffee. We love the space and vibe at the newly opened Coffee Project. You know this spot is the love child of serious coffee lovers. Do try their smooth nitro cold brew and the decadent affogato!

6. Big Apple Film Festival

Village East Cinemas (East Village)

Wed, Nov 4th-Sat, Nov 7th

The Big Apple Film Festival is an intimate affair that showcases and celebrates films, filmmakers and actors from New York City’s lively independent film community.  2015 highlights include, “Sicilian Vampire,” “Back in Time”, “Waiting” and “Beneath the Olive Tree.” There is also a wide range of NYC documentaries and shorts definitely worth checking out. Tickets start at $20.
