Gogobot is an innovative planning tool that tailors recommendations for places to stay, eat and play to your specific tastes. It also allows you to share your great experiences with people who have the same interests as you; people in your “tribes”. Gogobot’s ‘GoGo This Week’ feature empowers you to discover and take advantage of great events, openings and exhibits throughout the city each week.

Here are some exciting events and sites to check out in downtown New York this week, courtesy of Gogobot. Visit the website or download the app for more GoGo This Week upcoming events.

1. Neon Indian Live
East River Park Amphitheater at East River (Lower East Side)
Tuesday, Aug. 9 from 7-9pm

This Tuesday, come chill to the electro-funk sounds of Alan Palomo aka Neon Indian. We think this evening outdoor concert is the perfect way to make the most of the fleeting summer. FREE

2. Sexy Sail
The Battery, Slip 2 (Battery Park)
Thursday, Aug. 11 from 9:45-11:45 pm

Because sailing the Hudson on a Civil War-era schooner is too boring as a standalone, Dances of Vice is adding in a “scintillating burlesque and variety floor show unfolds against spectacular views of Manhattan, Brooklyn, New Jersey and The Statue of Liberty.” The theme for this sexy sail is Deco, with performances by Gin Minsky, Shelly Watson, Bettina May and Dandy Dillinger and music by DJ Voon. $59 (Ages 21+)

3. Fringe
Check website for  complete list of locations
Friday, Aug. 12-Sunday, Aug. 28 (check website for times)

With over 200 different shows throughout the city, the International Fringe Festival is the place to see innovative, daring and certainly eccentric theater. The festival has something for every taste, especially ones that veer outside the box genres. Tickets start at $18

4. Vegetable Tapas
Ladybird (Greenwich Village)
Daily from 5pm-2am

The heat has us reaching for lighter fare, meals that won’t weigh us down and still ignite our  discerning palates. Replacing the “meaty” Bourgeois Pig, Ladybird is the new plant-based restaurant from Ravi DeRossi that, thanks to executive chef Daphne Cheng, serves a wide range of creative vegetables dishes that are all flavor and no heft.

5. Sunset Salsa
Pier 45 (Greenwich Village)
Tuesday, Aug. 9 from 6:30-9pm

Sunset, salsa, cool breeze blowing off the Hudson and lovely views of New Jersey make for a lively Tuesday evening. There is even instruction for those with two left feet. FREE

If you know of great events happening in your neck of the woods that might be a fit for a future GoGo This Week column, please feel free to email details about the event to events@gogobot.com
