Gogobot’s ‘GoGo This Week’ feature empowers you to discover and take advantage of great events, openings and exhibits throughout the city each week. Here are some exciting events and sites to check out in downtown New York this week, courtesy of Gogobot. Visit the website or download the app for more GoGo This Week upcoming events.

1. Whisky Tasting
Pier 60 (Chelsea)
Wed, Feb 24th from 6-10pm

Mark Twain once said “Too much of anything is bad, but too much good whiskey is barely enough.” We are pretty sure that Whisky Live, which offers whisky lovers the chance to sample 300 different Scotches, Bourbons And Whiskies from around the world, would have satisfied Mr. Twain’s thirst for “the water of life.”

2. Battle of the Brussels
V Spot Organic (East Village)
Mon, Feb 29th at 7pm

Brussel sprouts, the seemingly simple mini cabbage, pack quite the flavor punch, especially in the hands of talented New York chefs who will present their best versions of the vegetable for your sampling pleasure. Boiled, crispy, crunchy, fire-roasted, fried, or fresh, you won’t go home hungry!

3. Breakfast for Dinner
451-459 W 14th Street (Chelsea)
Monday, February 29, 2016 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM

If a good breakfast prepares us for the day ahead, what nocturnal benefits will we reap if we eat our breakfast for dinner. In the Breakfast for Dinner battle, some of our favorite meatpacking restaurants will be vying for our vote for The People’s Choice Award. The contenders include: Untitled, STK, Colicchio & Sons, Doughnuttery and many others.

4. Trivial Dispute
Crocodile Lounge (Lower East Side)
Weds at 8:30pm

Smart-asses get a lot of flack and, you know what, we are here to defend those that through sheer cognitive gifts and random bathroom reading have come to amass a reserve of useless knowledge. So what if smartasses like to show off their little trove of trivia treasures! Forget the haters, and come check out Trivial Dispute at Crocodile Lounge, where smartasses (ourselves amongst them) can proudly boast and be rewarded.

5. Oscar party
Sons of Essex (Lower East Side)
Sun, Feb 28th at 7:30 pm

The Oscars are all about style and glamour. We may not be movie stars, but that’s no reason to stay home in pajamas. We are going all out for the 88th edition with a fancy Oscars-themed dinner at Sons of Essex, with music from Francisco Lozano and entertainment by Annie Sollange. Prix Fixe menu $68. RSVP and formal attire strongly suggested.

6. Get it Together
Kula Yoga (Tribeca)
Sat, feb 27th from 3:30-5pm

Sometimes the cold, the gloom and the dark of winter can get us low, real low, and we may need something or someone to pull us up and tell us to get our shit together! The meditation workshop “Getting and Keeping Your Shit Together: Meditation 2.0” with Megan Mook will help all those in need of a serious jumpstart. We’re going to learn some practical ways of staying focused this winter.

7. Jewelry Sale
915 Broadway, Suite 903 (Flatiron)
Tues, Feb 23rd-Thurs, Feb 25th from 11am-7pm

To add a little (or a lot of) sparkle to your wardrobe, check out the Thomas Laine sample sale. With pieces from designers like Ben Amun, Kenneth Jay Lane, Nina Bridal, Monica Rich Kosann, Suzanne Kalan, and Thomas Laine, of course, many of which are under $50, there is no reason to wait for spring to light up your look with some bling.

8. Pop Erotica
Santos Party House (Tribeca)
Sun, Feb 28th at 7pm

The Sweet Spot parties celebrate erotica in all its forms–through poetry, comedy, art, music, fashion and dance. The Mardi Gras edition this Sunday will have add something a little extra special to tickle your senses.
