Fashion icon Michael Kors has partnered with the United Nations on a long-term fundraising project, World Food Programme (WFP) which aims to help tackle the international hunger crisis by providing food assistance for those in need, with a particular focus on mothers and children. WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger, and is funded entirely by voluntary donations.

Kors plans to raise money and awareness for the program through a series of campaigns, events and special products – starting with the launch of two unisex watches in March, under the campaign slogan, “Watch Hunger Stop.” Each watch sold will provide funds to feed 100 children through the WFP.

Feeding the needy is a cause that Kors has been passionately involved in for some time. For over two decades, he has been a supporter of ‘God’s Love We Deliver,’ the New York based nonprofit initiative that cooks, prepares and delivers individually tailored meals daily to those living with severe illnesses throughout New York City, Newark and Hudson County, and also made a $5 million donation to the organization in October last year.

Kors has said that his dedication to the cause derives from traveling the world and witnessing millions of people from different cultures struggling to feed themselves and their family, and is proud to be a part of something that can potentially make a positive global impact. In return, WFP hopes that by working with the designer, they will generate more attention as well as much-needed resources in support of the program’s efforts to end world hunger and moving toward a world where every person has access to the quality and quantity of food to not only lead a healthy life, but above all, reach their full human potential.
