This past Sunday, June 7th in Madison Square Park, patrons gathered round to witness celebrity chefs and culinary stars at the notable Shake Shack begin their bicycle journey to help No Kid Hungry and the organization’s mission to end childhood hunger in the U.S.

What is No Kid Hungry? It is fundraiser created so that no child should go hungry in America. In fact, 1 in 5 kids will face hunger this year. Using practical solutions, No Kid Hungry is working to end childhood hunger by ensuring that children start the day with a nutritious breakfast and families learn the skills they need to shop and cook on a budget. When we all work together, we can make sure kids get the healthy food they need. No Kid Hungry is a campaign of national anti-hunger organization Share Our Strength. Patrons can join them at NoKidHungry.org.

Internationally known Chef Jason Roberts, Mid-Atlantic Area Director of Shake Shack, Allan NG, chef partner at Lettuce Entertain You Enterprise (LEYE), as well as Stella Rossa Pizza Bar and M Street Kitchen in Santa Monica, Calif., Jeff Mahin, Tertulia Chef/Owner Seamus Mullen, and others took on a 300-mile journey along the East Coast, each helping to end child hunger in the U.S. These food celebrities made various stops in Philadelphia and Baltimore before it ended in Washington, D.C. yesterday afternoon.

Each chef had an individual fundraising goal of 100,000 meals for kids in need. Every $10 contributed provided up to 100 meals for children facing hunger in America. Visit chefscycle.org to see all the chefs donate to their personal fundraising pages to support their ride, or you can even donate to the program nationwide yourself.
