Weekly Moving Tip From FlatRate #9

by | Jul 23, 2015 | Downtown Living

FlatRate has all the resources to make sure that your move is as seamless as possible! These include great tips that you can use on your next move:

Transferring Your Utilities

The key is to start early. Contact your cable company, gas, electric and water providers a couple months before your projected move date. Get all the necessary details on how to cancel service, as well as securing any paperwork you might need. Take notes and store all this information in your moving binder. You should have accurate records of contacting your utilities, so you can avoid any problems with overbilling later. You can also go to the U.S Post Office’s official change of address page online to get that out of the way. You do not want to be picking up your old mail from the new tenants of homeowners. Talk about awkward. And keep on your cable company. Cancelling your TV and Internet plans can become a bureaucratic nightmare of epic proportions, especially if you aren’t tenacious enough. That is not something you want to be paying double for.
