Have you ever been to a new city, and didn’t know where to go for dinner, or out for drinks? With the new app called Rekky, you no longer have to worry about searching for the perfect place to go!

Created by Muhammad Saigol, Rekky offers users insights into the trendiest places from the people whose tastes and interests they know and trust. Rekky uses the check-in feature from the users’ Facebook, Instagram and FourSquare accounts to provide them with venue recommendations (called ‘rekkies’) sourced from their personal networks.

Users only have to sign in once to link their social media accounts to the app, after which their geotagged photos from their other accounts appear in real-time. They can search for restaurants, bars, galleries and other various entertainment venues by categories, or the ‘Discover’ and ‘List’ functions. The ‘Discover’ tab suggests tastemakers for users to follow. The ‘List’ option features selections of venues curated by the tastemakers, bloggers, media, and friends from the user’s networks. Rekky’s map-based, deeply visual interface serves as the global in-the-know guide curated to fit users’ personal lifestyles, ensuring that they always know where to go.

Last night, Rekky had their official launch party for the app. Guests included founder and CEO Muhammed Saigol, and DJ Harley Viera-Newton. According to Saigol, his goal for the app was to have all these go-to places in one, instead of having to consult different resources to find a great restaurant, or a bar to grab drinks.

“When traveling to a new place or city, I would have to consult different websites, publications, friends…to find the perfect venue,” said Saigol. “So what this app does, is it pools all your trusted sources and where they’ve been into one place, that way I always know where to go and what to check out.”

Though the app just launched this week, Saigol says that the reception of the app has been great so far, and will be adding on more features to it as it takes off.

DJ Harley Viera-Newton, one of the trendsetters and collaborators featured on the app, says she became involved with Rekky due to traveling often to different cities around the world. She says the app will help her find the go-to places around these locations based on her personal interests and where her friends have been.

The launch party was an overwhelming success, with many friends and trendsetters coming out to support its release. The app is currently available on the app store for iOS, and can be downloaded here.
