Last night, the Meatpacking District kicked off its weekend-long Open Market: New Original festival at the Highline Stages with a performance by Santigold, DJ sets by Tanlines and Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and tables of delicious samplings from the district’s established eateries.
Santigold invited guests onstage to dance with her during the awesome start to the Open Market festival. Among the 700+ attendees were chef Mario Carbone and Theory founder Andrew Rossen.
The Open Market: New Original is a celebration highlighting what the Meatpacking District has to offer, launching the district’s new look and identity to the public. The weekend of fun lasts from October 1 to October 4 and will include free events, exclusive tours, public art, in-store activities from participating brands, shopping discounts and more to showcase the culture of the Meatpacking District.
