As Friday came to a close, so did rumors regarding one of the world’s most prestigious fashion powerhouses- Saint Laurent. Shock hit the fashion industry when they learned that Hedi Slimane would be stepping down from his role as Creative Director at Saint Laurent. After his four-year reign at the French house he leaves behind a notable legacy to take over.

The shift in power at Saint Laurent left many with several unanswered questions- specifically- what is Slimane planning to conquer next? And who will be stepping up in his absence?

Vaccarello is a 33- year-old designer who has led his own eponymous label since 2010 and was appointed creative director at Versus Versace in January 2015.

Vaccarello has officially stepped down from his position at Versace- where he had been since he signed on as a guest designer in 2013- to take on his new creative directorship at the French label.

Despite his short time directing Versus, he has helped the brand’s younger, more digitally inclined counterpart to flourish by opening their first flagship location in downtown Manhattan.

The edgy, rocker chic undertones that the Verses Versace brand certainly coincides with aesthetic that Sliman portrayed in Saint Laurent’s previous collections. Many across the industry will be eagerly awaiting his latest work.
