The Paleo Diet

by | Jan 30, 2015 | Dining

It was originally designed to combat modern day illness by encouraging humans to adopt a diet based on that of a neanderthal, but today the Paleo Diet is one of the biggest weight loss fads around. Increasing in popularity in recent years, the Paleo Diet is based on foods consumed by those in the Paleolithic era and promotes the consumption of healthy animal proteins, nuts, fruits, and vegetables, while restricting and eliminating certain food groups such as grains and dairy.

In more recent times, the Paleo diet has become synonymous with weight loss, and those looking to shed a few pounds are enjoying the benefits of the fresh food lifestyle. Furthermore, the Paleo diet is now the most searched diet on Google, gaining popularity over some of the most historically popular diets such as the Atkins and Dukan diets.

The growing popularity of the Paleo diet can be attributed to its large celebrity following, with stars including Megan Fox, Jessica Biel and Matthew McConaughey swearing by its proposed health benefits. Additional benefits of the diet including treatment for acne and diabetes have been identified, with some claiming it has eliminated the need for prescription medications to treat health problems such as Multiple Sclerosis.

While a strictly paleo lifestyle may not be for you, increasing your intake of vegetables and fresh foods and limiting your consumption of processed foods can only be a positive lifestyle change!
