A visit to Olio e Piu’ in the West Village is like a delectable passport to Old World Italy.

The sparkling rustic surroundings stand out among the landscape on which it sits. Engulfed by old New York brick buildings, Olio appears as a European Oasis in a urban environment.

Once inside, the atmosphere is equally warm and inviting…but somehow equally cosmopolitan as it is traditional.

“At Olio e Piu’, we want the ambience to be as authentic as it gets. We try every day to bring to the table the precise tastes and flavors one would find in Italy,” says owner Emil Stefkov who established this authentic taste of the Mediterranean in the middle of Manhattan.

“The restaurant is everything a true pizza lover would appreciate — such is the restaurant’s dedication to adhere to tradition that make they make their own mozzarella cheese and form their pizza bases with Caputo flour,” he adds.

But Olio e Piu’ is far more than a pizza place — albeit a deliciously authentic one.

It is fronted with an open patio engulfed in flowers and greenery in summer. The storefront opens to this outdoor patio when the weather allows, and in winter, the wood-burning oven and open dining area create a hearth-like atmosphere that feels like home in any season.

Now… to the food!

The starters were a clear signal of the succulence to come. The Fritto Misto crispy squid was brilliantly served with artichoke hearts and swimming in a delicious tomato sauce while the Prince Edward Island Mussels Cozze in Padella were light, fresh and swimming in a delicious wine sauce that whet the appetite for the meal ahead.

The Sacchetoni al Tartufo was a brilliant package of black truffles wrapped in a mouth-watering beggar’s purse pasta with parmesan and ricotta cheese.

The Linquine alle Vongole with Zucchini was lightly garnished in garlic oil and a must order for lovers of both shellfish and pasta.

Topping off a perfect dinner was a decadent Tortino al cioccolato with vanilla gelato that was sinfully delicious!

A beautiful bar skirted the circumference of the room, making Olio e Piu’ all the more attractive as a one-stop shop for anyone looking for a perfect evening.

Enjoy an evening in Italy without ever leaving the Village … at Olio e Piu’.

Olio e Piu is located at 3 Greenwich Avenue. For more information please call: (212) 243-6546.
