Language courses can cost up to hundreds of dollars. But with these websites, you can spend that money on traveling and still be able to communicate when you get to your destination! As long as you have internet access, you can begin learning your dream language without breaking the bank.  Each one is free with additional options to purchase premium material, but vary in learning style. Everyone learns differently, so take a look to see which one is best for you.

Duolingo:

If you’ve always wanted to learn a new language but never had the time, Duolingo might be the perfect option. Duolingo is accessible on both computers and phones so you can brush up on your skills on your daily commute. With their app and website, users can practice listening, writing, and speaking in another language. Each activity only takes a few minutes and is conveniently broken up into different topics. Even the most forgetful users can use Duolingo– the app sends out daily reminders!

Livemocha.com:

Livemocha.com is unique in that it allows you to connect with people all over the world. To earn enough points to gain access to lessons, it requires you to review the lessons of others who are trying to learn your native language. By having your work reviewed by others who know the language, you can become accustomed to certain idioms and phrases that aren’t usually taught.

Busuu:

Similar to Duolino, Busuu also provides quick, fun activities. However, Busuu is also unique in that some of the activities include listening to full conversations in the language you’re trying to learn. This helps users train their ears to sound of the language, even if they can’t understand it yet. The clean white design and picture of cartoon berries in the corner makes it friendly and inviting, especially for new learners.
