The winter months take a toll on your skin. With temperatures plummeting and your heating systems rocketing, this unpleasant combination strips your skin of it’s moisture. To avoid those unsightly cracks in the skin and revive that natural glow; what better way to hydrate, soothe, and illuminate than making your own homemade, natural body scrubs. These scrubs work as exfoliants to erase the dry skin, all the while replenishing the moisture that was stripped away. The best part is that you don’t need to stray far to reunite with your beautiful skin. Living naturally is beyond achievable when all of these ingredients are available right in your kitchen!

This first scrub combats that rough layer of skin that lies on the surface. All you need are 2 tablespoons of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1/2 cup of sugar. Depending on the area you’re scrubbing, the measurements may vary, more or less. But this power trio works wonders, with sugar to remove the dead skin, olive oil to add a burst of hydration and honey to soothe and soften. Just work the mixture in for about 5 to 10 minutes and watch your body look like new.

The next natural remedy to save your skin is a combination of 1/3 cup of oatmeal oats, 3 tablespoons of coconut oil, and 1 banana. This combo is beyond impressive for softening your skin. The oatmeal and bananas are used as a binding agent to nourish the skin, being high in potassium and vitamin A. Meanwhile the coconut oil is high in fat which retains and locks the moisture into your skin. This scrub works best massaged into the skin. When you’re done wash it off and feel how soft this scrub is. Added bonus – it’s edible!

This last mask will astonish you with the glow it leaves behind. All you need is 1 avocado, 1/4 cup of lemon juice and a teaspoon of sea salt. The coarseness of the sea salt removes the dead skin, while avocado’s natural oils penetrate and moisten the skin. The lemon’s citric acid corrects and evens out your skin tone, just be careful to avoid any open cuts on the skin!

Maintaining that beautiful exterior and living naturally has never been easier than taking a walk down to your kitchen!
