Emmy Award Winning Hair For Men, Literally

by | Sep 22, 2015 | Beauty

Of all the things to love about Jon Hamm, and there is plenty; his hair is one. If you spotted him at the 67th annual Emmy’s, you can attest to the matte, combover perfection he was sporting. Styled by Diana Schmidtke, she recently revealed how she turned his black locks into the side swept, timeless masterpiece.

Gentlemen, this is how you get Emmy Award winning hair!

Schmidtke’s product of choice? Mister Pompadour’s Peppermint Pomade.

The pomade is water-based, allowing for a solid hold, yet moldable. It’s made from all natural ingredients, lacking parabens and sodium chloride. It’s primary ingredients include aloe leaf juice; which promotes hair growth and adds shine, and vitamin B5; great for strengthening the hair shaft. It also includes hydrolyzed soy protein, known for it’s hair conditioning properties.

How to get the look:

1. Begin with clean, washed hair. (If wet, blow dry it, but blow the hair upward, from behind to create volume.) If hair still falls flat, apply a bit of hairspray to the roots to lift.

2. Scoop out a bit of the pomade, this should be minimal (i.e. a nickel sized amount), and work it into your hands.

3. Begin to run your hands through your hair, making sure all of the product is evenly dispersed onto your locks.

4. Take a fine tooth comb and begin to part your hair on your preferred side. Then, comb to the respective direction.

5. Be sure to brush lightly because you don’t want the hair to fall flat and reduce the volume the hairspray initially added.

A tip from Schmidtke: To achieve the Hamm cut, ask your stylist to keep the hair longer on the top and trim it shorter on the sides.

Mister Pompadour’s Peppermint Pomade is $17.50, available at www.misterpompadour.com. They have a variety of other men’s products such as pastes, waxes, clays, and texturizing powders.

Keep an eye out for Mister Pompadour’s inclusion in the ‘His Look’ beauty pages for our Fall 2015 issue!
