Chia

Wouldn’t it be perfect if a single food could help you lose weight, stop the swelling of the body, improve skin, lower the levels of bad cholesterol and prevent high blood pressure or even cancer? It seems unbelievable, but this wonderful thing exists, and it’s called chia!

Originally from southern Mexico, chia is the new darling around the world, promising numerous health advantages. It is a source full of Omega 3, and, because of this, it is anti-inflammatory when consumed, it is capable of forming a gel that protects the stomach lining, and it is ideal to combat Gastritis, while prolonging the feeling of satisfaction when consuming food in small portions.

The chia is mucilaginous, meaning rich in soluble and insoluble fiber. This fiber helps the intestinal transit of waste, preventing constipation and cleansing the body. Also a source of calcium, zinc, iron and potassium (the equivalent of two large bananas!), the seed has riboflavin, thiamin and niacin, and a set of B vitamins that all help in cellular metabolization, contributing to the whole body functioning better.

Chia also controls blood sugar, improves endurance, and helps to aid in quicker muscle recovery after training. It prevents premature aging and is useful for bone formation.

You can include these seeds for dieting by including them in different ways in various recipes. Chia sees make an excellent addition to soups, cakes, salads, cereals, yogurt, and smoothies. The possibilities are endless and the benefits are worth every seed!
